Poptone With Automatic Tour Gallery -The Neptune Theater Seattle 2018

Poptone played live to a full house with Automatic opening at The Neptune Theater in Seattle on May 18, 2018. Their set list included many fan favorites spanning an impressive 40 year back catalogue consisting of songs by Bauhaus, Love And Rockets, Tones On Tail, and Daniel Ash solo. Poptone, a retrospective of all past projects, is Daniel Ash and Kevin Haskins, along with Kevin’s daughter Diva Dompe. Their set was tight and they played better than ever alongside a spectacular light show of heavy blues and reds that added to the overall experience. Highlights of the show were seeing them play Haunted, Yin And Yang (The Flowerpot Man), and Burning Skies.

Poptone fans were in for a real treat with the Los Angeles based electro space pop opening act, Automatic. Their sound was truly unique with a modern punk retro flare reminiscent of  Joy Division mixed with Sonic Youth and the Generationals. Their unrefined sound instantly draws you in taking you on a trip to the early post punk days. They are Lola Dompe (Kevin Haskins’ daughter), Halle Gaines, and Izzy Glaudini.

“It’s been quite a remarkable journey so far! We as a band have been overwhelmed by our loyal following turning up in big numbers and celebrating all the music we have made over the past forty years. “We love our audience!,” says Kevin Haskins.

“Performing all these marvelous songs from our back catalog has made me really appreciate what a great songwriter and guitarist Daniel is! Touring with my very talented daughter Diva, takes it to dizzying new heights. The addition of six more songs that we are playing on this new leg of the tour has for me, really cemented our legacy. I feel very grateful and blessed to be a part of this and very much look forward to the forthcoming shows.”

As for me, it was great seeing many new and old friends and fans along the way. Special thanks to Brian and Marselle Hodges of the Seattle band ‘The Blue Hour’ for the epic street adventure after the show. Your humble beginnings as street kids was truly brought to life as we wandered from place to place. For those interested, check out their amazing story and music here.
