Jean-Marc Lederman is one of a kind. He has been working with the likes of Fad Gadget, The The, Gene Loves Jezebel but mainly with his own bands like The Weathermen (with their underground hit “Poison”) or Ghost & Writer (with Frank Spinath from Seabound). He is working as well in the fields of movies and video games.
“Personally, I feel like he would have made an excellent punk rocker because he has a quick middle finger and the attitude to go with it. But jest aside here is an artist that constantly questions the status quo. Someone who is intellectually curious and actively seeking new uncharted territory for him to explore. His latest opus is an 11-track joyride through the history of the blue note. “Soul Music For Zombies” is a singular voyage through music and atmospheres that collide in the most interesting fashion. The result is surprising and fun here, emotive there, and exciting and even danceable on some tracks.” (COP International)

“I really wanted to associate things that usually aren’t: gospel voices and industrial music backgrounds, opera voice and modular synth experiments, acapella R&B vocals with nu-electropop, ambient and work songs, etc… Emileigh Rohn of US band Chiasm also appears and sings her take on the blues’ crossroad/Robert Johnson legend. I really tried to experiment and I even provided a talkover on the opening track where I make connections between Chopin’s la note blue, the blues and the birth of Jazz through the Brooklyn label Blue Note…Don’t worry, I don’t think that bold move of mine will come back by public demand .”:) ~ Jean-Marc Lederman
