Ashton Nyte On The Awakening’s New Video For ‘Back To Wonderland’ And Supporting Wayne Hussey’s ‘Salad Daze Tour’

The Awakening has just released a brand-new video for “Back To Wonderland”, off their most recent album, “Chasm” (Intervention Arts). Ashton Nyte, the man behind The Awakening has said that he chose excerpts from the iconic German Expressionist movie “Metropolis” to help illustrate the subject matter and message of the song. The “Back To Wonderland” video features Ashton Nyte and Rose Mortem of The Awakening, filmed by Ashton Nyte and Damin Smit and edited by Nyte. Music and lyrics by Ashton Nyte. Published by Intervention Arts.

“It is essentially a song about how we prefer to entertain or distract ourselves, rather than actually dealing with the awful things going on in the world. There is so much insidious marketing and misdirection to keep us anaesthetised and in a state of placid bemusement. I understand the need to escape the darkness but I do feel we have become increasingly desensitized to the daily atrocities, injustices and inequities. As the refrain goes, “feel the death of empathy has taken over”… yeah, it is indeed time to swim against the flow,” says Nyte.

Ashton Nyte will be joining Wayne Hussey (The Mission) on his Salad Daze Tour which will see both artists performing solo in a more intimate setting. “It will be absolutely wonderful touring with Wayne again! The Mission were a significant influence on the genesis of The Awakening and Wayne has remained an inspiration in my artistic life. I am also blessed to call him a friend” says Nyte.

Nyte continues, “Honestly, the promise of a 36 date acoustic tour with the lovely Wayne Hussey is a life highlight in and of itself. I’ve always enjoyed performing in intimate settings. There is something magical about conjuring up a show with just a voice and a guitar and the space to lose, or find yourself in. I’ll be playing predominantly Awakening songs, with a healthy dose off the new album, “Chasm”. I’ll also be including solo works and something from Beauty In Chaos, of course.

Wayne Hussey adds, “I met Ashton and that beautiful baritone voice of his a few years back and we have since remained friends and supporters of each other’s work. Of course, we both also continue to be heavily involved with Michael Ciravolo’s ‘Beauty In Chaos’ project. So, it is with huge pleasure I can confirm that Ashton will be supporting me on the mainland Europe (except Greece & Sweden) leg of my ‘Salad Daze’ tour. It’ll be great to have him along for the ride. Bring your driving license, Ashton, you can share the driving, there’s an awful lot of it.”

Torched Magazine has also been enlightened with the knowledge that Michael Ciravolo’s ‘Beauty In Chaos’ project will be recording a new EP in the near future. When asked if he was still going to be involved, Nyte replied.. “Yes indeed! Michael and I have written a song together for the new EP, which we are both very excited about. I thoroughly enjoy working with Michael and will continue contributing to Beauty In Chaos for as long as he’d like me to.”

Experience one of these unique acoustic shows and see Ashton Nyte from The Awakening on tour in 36 cities, supporting Wayne Hussey as special guest on Wayne’s “Salad Daze Acoustic Tour 2019”.
