John Fryer’s Black Needle Noise hits another one out of the ballpark and straight into the dance club with their latest release ‘Upside Down’ featuring the sultry vocals of dark disco diva, Beca. Known for her haunting, sensual and emotive pop, Beca adds just the right amount of spice to John’s signature production and dark sci-fi melodies, creating the perfect union of audio bliss.
New York City to L.A transplant, Beca not only lends her sweetly intoxicating vocals to this latest track but also lyrically, taking the listener on a journey through the “wrong side of downtown.” “‘Upside Down’ is about suddenly finding yourself in a dark place after pushing away the warning signs and whispers from deep within your soul. Yet, an innate sense of survival gives you the inner strength to ask for help, and grabbing it with both hands to find your way home,” says Beca.

When speaking about the new song, Fryer says that “I always heard this as a pop song, kinda Sci-Fi Dream Pop. Who better to sing this? None other than Beca. I think she fits the song perfectly.”
This newest track, in a series of singles that Black Needle Noise is releasing consistently and regularly via Bandcamp, once again sees musical mastermind John Fryer switching gears and experimenting with new sounds. ‘Upside Down’ brings on a more powerful sci-fi pop edge than previous Black Needle Noise tracks with many layers of unique and interesting sounds. Put this song on repeat and we guarantee you’ll hear something different jump out at you every time!

UpSide Down
bombs go off we fall to the ground
your heart beat the only sound, and i
sold my soul deep down to the gloom
i turned my back on myself
became somebody else
every day over and over again
we dig our own graves into the sand
silence is death, life is a mess
stifling just to take another breath
we live in the upside down
wrong side of downtown
will you be my escape
we live in the upside down
wrong side of downtown
baby got to be brave
eyes closed and soaked in blood
sinking deeper into the mud
if i call your name will you hear me now
raise me up from the stone
you’re my way home
in the night we’re falling and falling apart
clawing our way out of the dark
run through the rain into the snow
we’ll survive anywhere the wind will blow
we live in the upside down
wrong side of downtown
will you be my escape
we live in the upside down
wrong side of downtown
baby got to be brave
