Denver’s Plume Varia shoot an arrow straight through your heart with their latest 2 song EP ‘Love | Limit’. This feels like an emotional roller coaster as duo Cherie and Shon Cobbs take you down the painful path of letting love go. ‘Love | Limit’ is intertwined and woven together like a beautiful tapestry filled with emotionally charged vocals and an intricate soundscape that yearn and fade away together. Near the end it breaks into all of the pure emotion that is attached to something you love so dearly but are trying to let go. Sparks fly in the opposite direction ultimately leaving you with a feeling of love, hope and loss.

“Simply titled Love Limit 1 and Love Limit 2, these songs were inspired by the end of love, says Shon Cobbs. Each song explores a different take on the end and in getting there we map out the question of leaving someone behind. In LL1 we thought about an easily relatable relationship where over time the love and sense of home begins to erode and one may start to redefine their sense of self and weigh the loss and/or gain of separation. In this relationship there may not be one contributing factor, but a series of ups and downs where the love you were once so sure of has changed and the qualities that were once an attraction are outweighed by that which now tears you apart.”
“In LL2 we reflect on an acceleration to that same end. In light of recent high profile breakups due to behavior as varied as inappropriate to predatory we thought about those partners thrust unwittingly into the spotlight as fallout of your loved ones deceit and how quickly love is severed. In either case there are a medley of emotions, punctuated by a sense of loss.”
Plume Varia will be heading to San Francisco this June to open for Peter Murphy and David J’s historic Bauhaus reunion at The Chapel. Their new release will be available first on the band’s Bandcamp page and then on all major digital and streaming platforms shortly thereafter.
David J produced and was featured on Plume Varia’s debut album Fact | Fiction, which was released last summer. Torched Magazine had the opportunity to interview Shon Cobbs late last year which you can read HERE.
