Seattle Duo The Blue Hour Release New 13-Track Album Of Dream Pop-Noir ‘In Every Breath’

Seattle based duo The Blue Hour release new 13-track album of dream pop-noir In Every Breath via No Devotion Records. Picking up where they left off with their acclaimed 2017 album Always, the Seattle based duo’s latest effort feature’s Marselle Hodges’ signature soaring vocals, which has drawn comparisons to Kate Bush and This Mortal Coil.  Also present is multi-instrumentalist Brian Hodges’ seamless production. The result is a haunting, deep, and richly melancholic production reminiscent of 4AD’s golden age.

Recorded between 2017 and 2019 at the band’s studio—the Pixie Nest—the Blue Hour’s latest collection of dark ethereal music chronicles a time of great personal loss, striving to find hope in those dark moments. “In Every Breath was a very difficult album to complete because it chronicled so many real events that happened since our last release— both highs and lows. The songs were our way of rising above. As a result, they are very vulnerable and fragile,” states Brian.

“In Every Breath” features mixes from 4AD legends Pieter Nooten (Clan of Xymox) and John Fryer (Depeche Mode, Cocteau Twins, This Mortal Coil), as well as guest appearances by Kenny Carkeet (ex-AWOLNation) on drums and Amy Denio (Tone Dogs) on saxophone, among other guests. The Album also contains exquisite mastering by Wade Alin (Christ Analogue) at Standard Mastering and Michael Lawrence at Bladud Flies (mastering engineer for Current 93/Ulver).

The Blue Hour’s humble beginnings as Seattle street kids helped shape who they are and is still found in their music today. They have many magical stories that are just as intriguing as their beautiful music that blends and bends many different genres to create something uniquely theirs.
